Growing up in Northern Maine, AKA The County, in the '80s and '90s, nearly everyone I knew rode snowmobiles.  Even though I was not part of a snowmobile family, I did my fair share of tooling around in the woods near my home in Houlton.  But, that was years ago.  I have not been on a snowmobile since I graduated high school.

During a recent visit to Chase Toys in Unity, I was reminded of how much fun, and how easy it is, to hit the trails with a Ski-Doo snowmobile.

Here’s my list of the top 3 items you need for the ultimate snowmobile adventure.

1 – A Ski-Doo Snowmobile

For my first ride in over 20 years, Josh and his staff put me on a Ski-Doo MXZ 850.  Not a big snowmobile, but it had enough power to be fun.  One of the ways the new Ski-Doo sleds shine is with the REV Gen4 Platform.  What is it?  A big change in the design of sleds.  If, like me, you haven’t been on a snowmobile in years, you’ll instantly notice a big difference in your ride.  The machines are now easier to handle, more maneuverable, and more precise.  They don’t drift the way some older sleds did.  That means that even a novice like me can have fun on their ride.  Right now, you can get $1,000 off select 2020 (and older) models.  The deal is good through January 6th, 2021.

2 – The Right Gear For Your Ride

Before you head out on the trail, you need the correct clothing and accessories for your ride.  The staff at Chase Toys set me up with a Klim jacket and BRP helmet.  The jacket has a Gore-Tex shell that is guaranteed to keep you dry and a Thinsulate liner to keep you warm.  One of the cool features of the helmet is the adjustable, fog-resistant mask.  Also, it has an integrated sun screen.

3 – A Husqvarna Snow Blower

Unless you live on the trail system, you’re not going anywhere if you can’t get out of your drive.  Chase Toys has a full line of Husqvarna snow blowers.  They range from the very basic to commercial size.

If you're ready to jumpstart your own snowmobile adventure this winter, head to Chase Toys as a one-stop shop for all your needs. They'll help you find a good deal on their new or pre-owned snowmobile inventory, and hook you up with the best gear for the job. Happy sledding!
