The FBI Offers a Cash Reward for Information About Maine Homicide
For the most part, Maine is a safe place.
The news in Maine is not typically flooded with stories of violent crime, but it does happen. We do have the occasional assault and a handful of murders each year.
In most cases, the perpetrators of these violent crimes are arrested within a few days of the incident, but sometimes the crimes go unsolved for years. If a crime is considered serious enough, the FBI may be called in to assist.
That is the situation with a homicide that has gone unsolved for nearly two decades.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for the public’s help in solving a 16-year-old murder.
According to the FBI website, 37-year-old Frank A. Williams of Boston was found injured at the Fox Street soccer field in Portland.
He had been beaten and stabbed. Williams later succumbed to his injuries.
His death has been ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Maine. Concerned citizens and witnesses in the area reported that there was a large group of individuals that were present for the homicide who likely have knowledge of the incident.
Frank Williams, also known as Frankie Tears, was a father of two.
The FBI is offering up to $10,000 for tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing.
If you have any information that will help investigators, you can call the Portland Police Department at 207.405.0929, or the FBI at 1.800.CALL.FBI. You can also leave a tip online HERE.
