According to WMTW, a credible threat has forced the temporary closure of MaineGeneral in Gardiner.

The article explains that anyone who was supposed to have an appointment at the MaineGeneral office at 5 Maine Crossing on Wednesday will be contacted directly.

Anyone who was supposed to have lab work or imaging done at the Gardiner location can visit MaineGeneral in Waterville or Augusta.

In addition to the medical center, nearby SAD 11 schools are currently 'locked in'.  While closes are continuing as normal, no one is allowed to leave the building.

The article quotes MSAD 11 superintendent Pat Hopins as saying:

Students and staff are able to walk freely throughout the building as the safety concern is not directed at the school, but within our community. This is only being done as a precautionary measure. No threat has been made against any student, staff, or school building

The 'lock-in' will be lifted as soon as the school is notified that the safety issue has been addressed.

The MSAD 11 school district serves Gardiner, West Gardiner, Pittston, and Randolph.

The article states that MaineGeneral does not expect to reopen its Gardiner facility on Thursday.  No word was given on when the facility would reopen.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
