I started working at B-98.5 in August of 2000 and that November we started our annual 'Tanksgiving Food Drive' with the Maine Army National Guard. The idea was that of Randy McCoy's former morning co-host, Genny Judge. That first year, Genny lived in the tank at Camp Keyes, through cold and rain as we collected non-perishable food for Central Maine.

12 years later and I am still here and 'Tanksgiving' has evolved and has become Central Maine's largest food drive. We'll be starting this year's 'Tanksgiving' on Monday, November 5th. Randy will be in the tent at Camp Keyes broadcasting live through Friday morning, November 9th. The Maine Army National Guard and Sharon Buck, Mike Poulin, and myself will be broadcasting and collecting non-perishable food at area supermarkets. You'll find us at Shaw's in Augusta and Waterville, Wal-Mart in Augusta and Farmington, Goggin's IGA in Randolph and George's Banana Stand in Skowhegan.

We'd like to thank the Maine Army National Guard for their continued support, without them, I don't see how we could pull off this event. We also thank all of the local restaurants who keep Randy and the Guard fed during the week! And of course, thanks to all of you, who have made 'Tanksgiving' so successful.

Last year, we donated money collected to 16 area food banks and to the Salavation Armies of Augusta and Waterville. We also donated tons of food to the Salvation Armies of Augusta and Waterville.

We'll be at it again this year starting on Monday, November 5th. Keep listening for details and visit b985.fm for the complete schedule of supermarket locations and Randy's daily video blog and pictures from this year's and prior years of 'Tankgiving!'
