It's not much of a surprise, but it's now official. Several parts of the Pine Tree State are now under a blizzard warning ahead of this weekend's storm. The blizzard warning will be in effect from 7 AM Saturday through 6 AM on Sunday.

According to WGME Meteorologist, Matt Hoenig, there is now a blizzard warning in effect for parts of York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties. For those of us in Central Maine, Lincoln county directly borders Kennebec County and includes towns like Jefferson, Wiscasset, Whitefield, Dresden and Boothbay Harbor.

According to WGME, a blizzard warning is issued when there is a threat of falling or blowing snow, frequent gusts of wind of more than 35 miles per hour, visibility is reduced to a quarter mile or less. and all of this lasts for at least 3 consecutive hours.
