According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, police have identified the man who was found deceased in Auburn.

Investigators are continuing to look into the death of a man who was found outside a tent along Washington Street North in Auburn earlier this week.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the discovery was made Tuesday, March 3. The agency is working alongside the Auburn Police Department as they try to piece together exactly what happened.

On Wednesday, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta confirmed the man has been identified as 48-year-old Jaime Jimino, who was formerly from Portland. Authorities say he had recently been living unhoused in the Auburn area.

Officials say the medical examiner’s office will continue its investigation to determine the exact cause and manner of Jimino’s death. Those results aren’t expected right away, though. Authorities say it could take several weeks before the final findings are complete.

Right now, investigators say there are no signs of foul play.

On Tuesday evening, investigators with the Fire Marshal’s Office and detectives from the Auburn Police Department spent several hours at the scene carefully examining the area.

Authorities have also confirmed that a small fire had occurred in and around Jimino’s tent.

The investigation remains active, and officials say more information will be released if and when additional details become available.
