MDEA Arrests Two Following Investigation in Central Maine
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, after months of investigating suspected drug activity in the Pittsfield and Canaan area, agents with the South-Central Task Force have made two arrests.
On April 22, 2026, authorities secured an arrest warrant for 44-year-old Joshua Johnson of Canaan Road in Pittsfield. They charged him with three counts of aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs, specifically fentanyl. The charges stem from multiple undercover purchases conducted during the investigation. Agents also obtained a search warrant for the residence.
At around 8:30 that evening, the Maine State Police Tactical Team executed both warrants. Johnson and 28-year-old Samantha Quimby were taken into custody without incident.
Quimby was wanted on outstanding warrants for theft, operating after suspension, and violating conditions of release. Her bail was set at $1,500.
In addition to the new trafficking charges, Johnson also had active warrants for criminal trespass and violation of bail. Bail for the trafficking charges was set at $5,000 cash, with an additional $200 cash bail for the other charges.
Both Johnson and Quimby were taken to the Somerset County Jail, where they are being held pending their initial court appearances.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
