Even though some parts of Maine see a temporary increase in traffic during the height of tourist season, the state has very few issues with traffic, for the most part.

This is especially true when compared to places like New York, Massachusetts, and California.

Over the next month, some people in Central Maine will get a taste of what traffic is like during rush hour in L.A.

Central Maine Traffic Issues

It looks like the other L/A, Lewiston/Auburn, will be dealing with some significant traffic delays over the next few weeks.

According to a Facebook post from the City of Auburn, over the next few weeks, several enormous transformers (the power kind, not the robot kind) will be transported through the streets of Auburn.

The first will start its transit through the city at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24.

The post explains that it will start on Rodman Road and...

...make its way onto Washington Street S, then Philomar Street, Washington Street N, Minot Avenue, Union Street, Center Street and onto the Veteran’s Bridge to Lewiston. Temporary road closures will take place along the route, and delays are expected to be significant.

The transformer will reportedly be moving very slowly, at a “walking pace”.  It is expected that the transit through the city will take several hours.

Check out a map of the affected area HERE.

Because of the pace and necessary road closures, it is recommended that people who need to travel through the area seek alternate routes.  Failure to plan accordingly could lead to you being stuck in traffic for hours.

The post also explained that there will be additional Facebook posts prior to the moving of the other three transformers.  Additionally, they plan to send out notifications through the city’s ‘AlertMe’ system.  You can sign up to get those alerts HERE.
