Maine CDC Offering Drive-Thru Covid Testing At Augusta Armory
In addition to the Augusta Armory on Western Avenue in Augusta being a vaccination site, now the state of Maine is planning to open a new drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the same location according to a report by WMTW.
Covid testing at the Augusta Armory will begin today (1/10/21) with the schedule being posted on the Maine CDC website.
The covid testing although "drive-thru" , requires an appointment. Appointments can be made online at www.shieldt3portal.pointnclick.com. Simply click on “Sign up for an account” and you need to use the agency code “AugustaComm.”
You can also call the state’s community vaccination line. They will assist you with making an appointment. Call 1-888-445-4111 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
This covid-19 testing site will be overseen and operated by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Maine Emergency Management Agency and the Maine National Guard, just as the vaccination clinic is.
The days that covid testing is taking place will alternate with the vaccination clinic.
Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah indicated this testing site was created in response to the difficulty people are having in getting tested for COVID-19. There are also efforts ongoing to provide additional testing sites especially in more rural areas of the state.
