According to a press release from the Maine Department of Safety's Shannon Moss, three people were arrested and a huge quantity of deadly fentanyl was seized in a Thursday drug bust in Bangor.

The press release explains that agents arranged for the purchase of fentanyl at a Bangor motel.  When they arrived with the drugs, agents took into custody 48-year-old Joseph Rusaw and 37-year-old Meaghan Suliniski

Sulinski and Rusaw were allegedly in possession of 38 grams of fentanyl, 39 grams of meth, and 3 grams of cocaine base.

The press release goes on to say:

Information garnered from the arrests led Agents to a different Bangor hotel where they believed the source of the drugs was staying.  Agents conducted surveillance on the room, ultimately obtaining a search warrant.  Agents secured the room and located (Geiser) Baez inside attempting to dispose of fentanyl in the toilet.

From the hotel room, agents seized approximately 349 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of cocaine base (crack) and $1340 in suspected drug proceeds.  The estimated street value of the drugs is estimated at over $40,000.

According to information found on the State of Texas website, that's enough fentanyl to kill 193,000 people!  The website explains that it only takes 2 milligrams (comparable to a few grains of table salt) to kill an adult.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law

Joseph Rusaw of Holden, Maine, is currently held on $10,000 cash bail. Meaghan Sulinski, also from Holden, is free on $500 cash bail, while 20-year-old Geiser Baez of the Dominican Republic is held on $150,000 cash bail.
