Police are continuing to search for a suspect in a Wednesday afternoon shooting at the Maine Mall in South Portland.

A Facebook page from the South Portland Police Department explained that one person was injured in the shooting and that they believe the shooting was an isolated incident.  As a result, they do not believe there is any danger to the public.

Despite an exhaustive search, police were unable to locate the suspect in the shooting.

The Facebook post says, in part:

We are actively following leads as to the identification and whereabouts of the shooter. This call came into the Portland Regional Dispatch Center as a shooting at the mall. All South Portland units responded and were assisted by officers from neighboring departments including Portland, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, Yarmouth, Gorham, Westbrook, State Police, Cumberland County Sheriffs, ATF, and FBI.

The last update on the victim was that they were in surgery and were expected to survive their injuries.

If you know anything about the incident, you should call the police.  If you spot the suspect, do not approach them.  Instead, call 911.
