High Winds Knock Out Power to Thousands of Central Maine Power Customers
If you woke up to a darkened, chilly, home this morning, you are not alone.
According to an article on the WMTW website, as of 9:40 on Saturday morning, more than 56,000 Central Maine Power customers had no power.
A CMP outage map shows that the majority of outages are in southern and central Maine, with the vast majority of outages in the Augusta, Waterville, Lewiston, Auburn, and Portland areas. However, there are outages listed on the map as far northwest as Greenville and Beaver Cove Plantation.

On Friday, the company, which has hundreds of thousands of customers throughout Maine, posted on Twitter/X that they were preparing for possible outages caused by high winds.
According to the National Weather Service, much of Maine could see winds of 20-25 miles per hour and gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.
On a personal note, even though I did not lose power in my Augusta home, the wind of Saturday morning was shaking the house.
While the company is working diligently on restoring power, there is no word on when people will be getting their power back.
