Maine State Police Make Arrest Following Domestic Disturbance & Standoff
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Maine State Police have arrested a 37-year-old man following a standoff in Aroostook County.
The press release explains that the Maine State Police were called to a home in Cross Lake Township early Thursday morning after a reported domestic disturbance.
Troopers say the call came in around 7:46 AM. The caller was reportedly a woman who told police her boyfriend was making threats and damaging property inside their home. She left the residence before police arrived.
When troopers got there, they determined the man involved, 37-year-old Nicolas Dionne of Cross Lake Township, was still inside and refusing to come out.
Because of that, the Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called in.
After several hours of communication, Dionne exited the home around 8:00 pm and was taken into custody without incident.
He was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening, Domestic Violence Terrorizing, and Creating a Police Standoff. Dionne was taken to the Aroostook County Jail.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Maine State Police had some help at the scene by the North Lakes Fire Department and ASI Ambulance Service.
