For decades, New Englanders have relied on the wisdom presented by Lewiston's Farmers' Almanac and New Hampshire's Old Farmer's Almanac.

These annual publications provide readers with recipes, home tips, old school advice, and weather forecasts.

The forecasts presented by the almanacs are, of course, extended forecasts.  We mean REALLY extended forecasts.  Instead of providing day-to-day forecasts, the almanacs provide forecasts that give weekly or monthly overviews.  According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, these forecasts are determined by looking at solar science, meteorology, and climatology.

The Old Farmer's Almanac's Spring 2026 Forecast

For Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and elsewhere in New England, the almanac is calling for a warmer than normal spring that will also be dryer than normal.

The forecasts says, in part:

Temperatures will be warmer than average, especially in May (3°F above normal). Precipitation is expected to be below average in both April and May. No significant snowfall is forecast.

About The Old Farmer's Almanac

Since 1792, that little yellow book known as the Old Farmer's Almanac has been doing what it does best: helping people plan their gardens, track the weather, and pick up a little homespun wisdom along the way.  So if you’ve heard talk about another almanac shutting down, take a breath.  The Old Farmer’s Almanac isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it’s still growing. Page after page, season after season, it’s sticking around for what comes next.
