When it comes to getting a good sandwich in Maine, there are plenty of choices.  We've got a handful of really good, and really well known, national chains.  And, it seems like we get a new one every few months.  But, most sandwich lovers know that the best in Maine can be found at our locally owned and operated delis.

There are a few of these that come to mind...  And, without a doubt, one of the tops on the list is the regional chain of Harvest Moon Delis.

Since getting there start in Bangor in the early 00s, the chain has really made a name for itself.  Currently, there are seven locations across Eastern Maine and Central Maine.  However, there is soon to be an eighth location.

It appears that Augusta is going to be getting a Harvest Moon location.  Based on what we have seen, it will be located just down the walk from Planet Fitness in the Shaw's Plaza on Western Ave.

They have yet to announce an opening date, but when we learn more we will pass it on to you.

What sets Harvest Moon apart from other sandwich places.  Well, being locally owned, they are able to carefully select only the choicest ingredients.  And, in addition to having some great sandwiches, they also have great soups and salads.

Their website goes on to say:

We earn our excellent reputation every day by only using the best and freshest ingredients for all of our food. Our sandwiches and paninis, which are made and cooked to order, feature premium deli meats that are sliced daily, fresh vegetables, homemade condiments, and locally baked bread. We also offer hand crafted soups and freshly-prepared salads and side dishes. Our food is served in a clean, casual, friendly environment.

In addition to three locations in Bangor, they also have locations in Brewer, Orono, Newport, and Waterville.
