It seems like every day there is a new scam to be concerned about.  However, fortunately, most of these scams are conducted either through the internet or over the phone.

A woman from New Hampshire recently found out this is not always the case.

According to WMTW, Lia Michaels, of Lebanon, got a call Thursday afternoon from some claiming to be from the IRS.  The person said she owed the IRS money.  Thinking it was a scam, she hung up the phone.

A few minutes later, an SUV pulled into her driveway.  A man described as being Caucasian and approximately 6 feet tall, got out of the vehicle and approached her house.  When she answered the door, the man reportedly demanded $15,000 and told her that, if she did not pay, Lebanon police would take her away.

According to Michaels, they knew a lot of personal information about her, like her birth date.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

Given the small population of Lebanon, and how sparsely populated the surrounding area is, there is a good chance the scammers are not from the area.  Otherwise, there li would be a good chance that they would have been recognized by the victim.
