Take A Look Inside The Cheapest Home For Sale In Central Maine

Over the last few years, we have seen home prices skyrocket in Central Maine.  While this happened for a number of reasons, the biggest reason was the influx of people from other parts of the country.   At the height of the pandemic, the decided to ditch their city lives and make the move to more rural surroundings.

They swooped into Augusta, Waterville, Gardiner, Winthrop, and other towns and cities, snagging nearly every available piece of property.  In some cases, they bought these properties "sight unseen".  In other words, they did not actually see the home in person until the day they signed the paperwork.  In most cases, they paid way over the initial asking price.  Wild, eh?

Unfortunately, this made the purchase of a home next to impossible for the average Mainer.

In recent months, however, the market has stabilized and there are some deals to be found, if you are willing to look and you are willing to put some work into the property.

Recently, we found a real fixer-upper in the Town of Winthrop.

According to Realtor, the home at 23 Lambert Street in Winthrop has just under 1,200 square feet of living space.  It has four bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room.

It appears to have a dirt-floor basement, a hot water heater that is in decent shape, and forced hot air heat (oil furnace).

Located at the end of a dead end street, it is off the beaten path but still close to all that downtown Winthrop offers.  And, you're just a few minutes from Augusta or a half hour from Lewiston / Auburn.

Clearly, the place needs some work...  In the end, though, the home has potential.
