Eastern Maine Getting a New Restaurant & Boutique Hotel
One of the really exciting things we have seen happening in Maine over the last few years has been the rehabilitation of buildings that were constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Often made of brick and stone, these buildings were meant to last and it has saddened many developers to see them left to rot.
In many cases these buildings were previously used as warehouses or factories. Now, they are getting a new lease on life as shops, restaurants, bars, or even as hotels.
This is the case with the old box factory on South Main Street in Brewer.
According to an article in the Bangor Daily News, the building will soon become a boutique hotel and restaurant.
The article indicates that the building had previously been owned by the same Dedham, Maine resident since 2000, but that the resident sold the building to an unnamed developer.
Very few specific details about the businesses are known. For example, the type of food the restaurant will serve or the number of rooms the hotel will have. And, there is no word on exactly when the new businesses would open, but the article seems to indicate that it would be sometime in 2026.
Once finished, the business would have direct access to the Brewer Riverwalk and would be neighbors with High Tide Restaurant and Tozier's Market.
